Free Food, Prizes, Contests, and Special Guests to Help Kick Off Skating Season at Cobbs Creek

(PHILADELPHIA, PA, November 26, 2007) The Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation and the Laura Sims Skate House are hosting an open house at Cobbs Creek on Saturday, December 8th from 1pm to 3pm. There will be FREE food and drinks to all who attend, along with great prizes, giveaways, and opportunities to sign up for free after school activities.

Phlex, the Philadelphia Phantoms Mascot, will be there to greet skaters. Off the ice, the attendees can practice taking slapshots on a giant inflatable hockey net provided by the Philadelphia Flyers! This event is open to the entire community to promote a safe haven for children in the West Philadelphia area during after school hours.

The Laura Sims Skatehouse, located at 63rd & Walnut St. provides ice hockey and ice skating programs throughout the winter. For more information about the event and to find out more about free after school activities please call the ESYHF main office at 215-952-5271.


About the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation

The mission of the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation is to impact the lives of underserved youth in Philadelphia by developing programs that incorporate on-ice and off-ice activities, stressing citizenship, academics and life skills. The programs are provided to boys and girls who otherwise would not have opportunities to enjoy ice hockey. The Foundation provides equipment, ice time, and experienced coaching at no cost.
